If you are deciding on whether to purchase a camera or lens, I would hold off until next week. As you know, Black Friday is a big day in the US, so we are expecting all major brands including Nikon and Canon to have some killer rebates and instant savings on all kinds of camera gear. As before, our “Current Deals” page will be updated frequently during the holidays. If anything special comes out with a fast time limit, we will post it on the main page.

Nikon will be running a similar “buy together and save” instant rebate program as before, but the list of lenses and cameras will be extensive (yes, the new Nikon Df will be included). As far as I know, up to $300 off will be offered on lenses, some of which are lower-end! So rebates will be very attractive, especially if you stack lenses (you can buy as many lenses as you want, as long as you include a single camera). And I am expecting B&H to be adding those extra 2-4% savings on top of all these again.
I know many of our readers won’t be happy with the requirement to buy a DSLR, but I can tell you that considering how cheap some of the lower-end DSLRs like Nikon D3100 are (which currently goes for around $420), buying a single lens will make the body basically free. And if you do not want it, you could always sell it at a good price after the holidays. But I must warn you – those low-end bodies will sell out fast. I remember last year there were very few high-end cameras left in stock after black Friday to be able to bundle lenses. So if you want to take advantage of these rebates, I would recommend to start early, as soon as they become available. I will obviously be on top of all that and post updates on the site and our Facebook page frequently.
For those that are wondering about what lenses or cameras to buy, I will be publishing a detailed article with my personal recommendations and what I consider a good deal vs not, similar to what I have done before.
Remember, some of the deals won’t last long. Once B&H runs out of a particular lens or a camera body, you will not be able to order it. This is that time of the year when it happens…
Oh, and we will be getting a lot more of those Sensor Gel Sticks within the next 1-2 weeks! This time we should have plenty of stock and I promise to our readers on the west coast – this time I will post the stock availability during the day :)
